Just for me - not every knitting adventure in my life has to end up as a Vetus Stercore pattern.

This is one of my more daring projects—a piece that’s transparent and needs a lot more length, both for style and modesty. Luckily, I’m spoiled when it comes to yarn, as my mom finds me the most inspiring small-batch treasures. This time, it’s a thread-thin viscose with just enough strength to carry a lace pattern. So, naturally, I decided to dive into creating a 1930s-inspired full-length dress.

I’ve never done anything like this before, which makes the process both exciting and nerve-wracking. Since I’m mostly improvising, there’s a lot of trust involved. I won’t know for sure if my vision works until it’s nearly finished, and the thought of undoing any hand-knit stitches on 2.5mm needles is enough to make me shudder. But so far, after my first try-on, I’m really happy with how it’s coming along. Now, I just have to knit the skirt to the right length—how long? Time and instinct will tell.

Once it’s complete, this dress will be far too glamorous for lounging at home. I’m definitely going to need an invitation to a swanky dinner!
